Varsity Cross Country
vs. Georgetown Preparatory School
Georgetown Prep Cross-Country Classic
|Date:||October 15, 2011|
Landon varsity cross country successfully negotiated a crowded, speed-draining course to take ninth place overall out of 39 teams in the unseeded division of Saturday's Georgetown Prep Cross-Country Classic. The Bears, who posted a team score of 282 despite slower-than-usual times, easily defeated host and IAC rival Prep thanks to standout performances by Henry Duncan (39th) and a healthy Brian Liu (51st). Fellow seniors Billy Kuhn (49th) and Mac Hightower (64th), along with junior Adam "Sun Ra" Brill (79th), also scored for Landon, and junior Harrison Voslow and sophomore Kevin Soraci ran solid races to round out the Bears' high-powered varsity force.
A shorthanded JV squad led by junior Josh Michael (37th) and senior Will Christner earned 25th place overall. Sophomores Oliver "Bob Dylan" Hightower and Sam Lynch and juniors Ryan Rose and Bryce Renzi all scored for Landon.
Two freshmen Bears—Nick Jundanian and Trevor "Mono-Shoe" Maco—managed top-100 finishes as the Landon frosh took 23rd overall in that division with the help of strong performances by Deacon "Dragon Tattoo" Brew, Matt Wellington, Sam Krauland, and Stone "The Visionary" Dreyer.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the team on Saturday, and a special thanks to those who provided food and beverages. The Bears' calendar is clear of meets until the big day—the IAC Championships—on October 29.
