Financial Assistance

WE UNITE to invest in families.

One of Landon's greatest strengths is our sense of community, the way in which we reach out to embrace each other as brothers and equal members of the greater Landon School family. When a boy arrives on Landon's campus he is immediately welcomed. He is a Bear, with all its rights, privileges and responsibilities forever.

Endowment for Financial Assistance

Since its early days, the School has recognized that many talented young boys who could benefit from the rigor and challenge of a Landon education were not in the financial position to do so. Over the years what began as a small scholarship program has helped Landon to better reflect the socio-economic demographic of our region.

Many outstanding graduates would have been unable to attend Landon had assistance not been available to their families, and our School has benefitted richly from the contributions those boys have made to the vitality of the Landon experience. Students receiving aid have demonstrated leadership in the classroom and have been recipients of some of the School's top awards: President's Outstanding Academic Achievement, Headmaster's award, Fathers' Club Citizenship award, Landon Way, Ethics Scholars, Honor Roll, Middle School GEM and more. They have held positions as Student Council representatives, prefects, community service leaders and team captains.

Today, Landon's annual financial aid budget is $2.6 million, with awards provided to more than 140 students. Each family is asked to pay some portion of their tuition, according to their ability. In difficult economic times, the School has designated additional funds and special loans to help families manage their share of the cost of a Landon education.

In addition, contributions to the Landon United campaign through the Annual Fund support student financial assistance, just as dollars raised through the many activities of the Azalea Garden Festival have done for more than 55 years.

We seek $3 million to endow our commitment to families through financial assistance.

"You will always hear me championing financial aid, because it touches one in five students. That could be their best friend. I do it institutionally, but I also do it personally, because I was given financial aid by the School and that made all the difference in the world."
