Admissions Process and Checklist
This checklist is a guide to help families navigate Landon's application process. Applications for admissions are accepted starting September 1 for the following academic year. Applications and all supporting documents are due January 31 and decisions letters are mailed out in early March.
1. Online Application for Admission:
Complete the online Application as early in the fall as possible. Applications for admissions are accepted in September for the following academic year. The application is due January 31. Applications received after January 31 will be reviewed after decisions have been mailed. There is a $75 application fee. If you are applying for financial aid you may request an application fee waiver by calling the Admissions Office at 301-320-1067.
2. Schedule an Appointment:
Please call the Admissions Office to schedule an appointment for yourself and your son. The 90-minute appointment, scheduled during school hours, includes a family interview and tour of campus. An application must be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to the appointment. The appointment must be completed by January 31.
3. Open House and Admissions Information Sessions Dates:
Attend one of the wonderful admissions events to meet the students and faculty of Landon and tour the beautiful 75 acre campus.

4. Transcript Request:
Submit the Transcript Request Form to your son's current school. The official transcript must include half of this current year's grades and all of last year's grades and testing information. Your son's current school must mail the transcript directly to Landon's Admissions Office and should arrive no later than January 31.
5. Teacher Recommendation:
Applicants to Grades 3 - 5 should submit ONE teacher recommendation sent directly from the current homeroom teacher.
Middle and Upper School Applicants to Grades 6- 12 should submit an English AND Math teacher recommendation sent directly from the current teachers to Landon's Admissions Office.
6. Admissions Testing:
Applicants to Grades 3 and 4: Register your son to take the Landon administered admissions test on Saturday, January 8. Please email admissions@landon.net to register your son. A registration test letter will also be mailed to all applicants in December.
Third Grade admissions test consists of the following subtests: ERB Reading Comprehension, Landon Math Test, Spelling Test, and a Short writing exercise.
Fourth Grade admissions test consists of the following subtests: ERB Reading Comprehension, ERB Mathematics, and a Short writing exercise.
Applicants to Grades 5 - 12:
Register your son for either the ISEE or the SSAT.
Select the test, location and date most convenient for you. For more information see the web sites listed below.

7. Middle and Upper School Student Visiting Days:
Come be a Landon Bear for the day. Students visiting days are optional and are only for Middle and Upper School Applicants. Specific Student Visiting Days are list below. Please call the Admissions Office or email admissions@landon.net to schedule your son to be a Landon Bear for the day.

8. Completed Applicant File:
All supporting documents are due to Landon no later than January 31. To check the status of an applicant's supporting documentations, please log into the infosnap Admissions Tracker. After the Admissions Office receives an item, e.g. completed Transcript, the Admissions Tracker checklist will be updated within 48 hours. Parents are encouraged to periodically review the Admissions Tracker to be sure all necessary supporting documents are completed in a timely fashion.
An applicant's file is complete when it contains:
- A Completed Application
- An official transcript from applicant's current school
- Teacher recommendations
- Admissions testing results
- An admissions appointment with an admissions officer
Application Fees
Application Fee - $75
Payment can be processed by credit card.
Families who are applying for financial aid are eligible for a fee waiver. To obtain a fee waiver code, please contact the Admissions & Financial Aid Office at 301-320-1067.
