Upper School to Perform “You Can’t Take It With You”
Play Opens May 18
The Landon Drama Department, in association with the Holton-Arms Drama Department, presents Kaufman and Hart’s classic comedy You Can’t Take It With You on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mondzac Performing Arts Center’s Coates Auditorium.
One of the most frequently performed American plays, it is the prototype for all comedies that focus on a collection of zany relatives, making it a sort of 1938 version of Modern Family, according to Director Fred Zirm. He continues, “Audience members of all ages should enjoy watching literal and figurative comic fireworks explode on the Landon stage as members of a more ‘normal’ family meet this quirky household.”
Twelve Landon boys and seven Holton girls make up the cast of two families with different lifestyles. “I chose the play because I thought we had a wealth of talented comic actors, and this is one of the few plays that gives every member of a large cast a chance to shine,” says Zirm.
Admission is free, with voluntary donations to Bethesda Cares, and open to the public
