Preseason Begins Aug. 15

Students return to campus next week for the beginning of preseason sports.

Varsity and junior varsity water polo begin on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 8 a.m., with Walt Bartman leading the varsity team and Jamie Matthews ’04 guiding JV. The first varsity water polo game of the season is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18 at Calvert Hall College High School.

On Aug. 15 at 3:30 p.m., football players will convene to begin the 2012 season. Paul Padalino coaches the varsity team and Michael Derwinski leads JV. The first varsity game is Friday, Aug. 31, when the Bears host Bishop McNamara High School at 4 p.m.

Cross country practices with Coach Addison Hunt begin on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 a.m., with its first meet scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25.

The varsity and JV soccer players will take the field at 10 a.m. on Aug. 18, with Bill Reed leading varsity and Ted Ogden guiding JV. Freshman Soccer, led by Brandon Harwood, begins on Monday, Aug. 20 at 4:30 p.m. The varsity Bears begin a trip to Richmond, Va., on Thursday, Aug. 23.
