Lehrman Named Trustee Emeritus
In July 2012, Landon School welcomed three incoming members to the Board of Trustees: Peter J. “Chip” FitzGerald, Jr. ’83, Ernest D. Jarvis, Sr., and Douglas C. Kiker ’93. Samuel Lehrman H’09 was named a trustee emeritus.
At its summer meeting, Board Chair H. Sherman “Tiger” Joyce ’78 thanked departing board members Nancy E. Duber and Dale B. Wolf who have completed their terms, and honored Stacy L. Robinson who passed away in May.
New Trustees
Peter “Chip” FitzGerald, Jr. ’83 has served on the Board previously and chaired the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He is the director of asset management for FitzGerald Properties, a real estate investment and management company located in McLean. FitzGerald graduated from Landon in 1983 and has been a class agent since 1987. He was on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 1994-2001 and was the president of the Association during the 2000-2001 school year. A 1987 graduate of the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics, FitzGerald has also attended Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a master’s degree in real estate. Chip and his wife, Martha Blair, reside in Chevy Chase, with their son, P.J. ’13, and daughter, Blair, who is in tenth grade.
Ernest Drew Jarvis, Sr. is a senior vice president at First Potomac Realty Trust, a publicly traded REIT. He serves as president of the District of Columbia Building Association (DCBIA), a member of the executive committee of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, a member of the Economic Club of Washington, and a graduate of Leadership Greater Washington. He and his wife, Debbi, have two sons who attend Landon, EJ and Jacob. Jarvis received a BS from Southeastern University.
Douglas C. Kiker ’93 is a managing director at Kekst and Company, a leading strategic, corporate and financial communications firm that serves publicly traded companies and private institutions around the world. Kiker joined Kekst after a 10-year career as a journalist working for CBS News’ 60 Minutes, The Associated Press and Fox News Channel. He graduated from Landon in 1993, The University of Virginia in 1997, and The Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2001.
Trustee Emeritus
A native Washingtonian, Samuel Lehrmanis president and founder of Lehrco Corporation, a retail development and management company established in 1985. Lehrco Corporation owns and has partnership interests in six neighborhood shopping centers in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. He is a vice president and co-founder of Vista Management Company, Inc., a residential management company located in Silver Spring. Lehrman attended American University and New York University where he studied real estate investment, development and finance. His son, Max, graduated from Landon in 2011 and is attending Amherst College. Lehrman served on the Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2011 and was co-chair of the Landon United campaign. He led the efforts to build Bordley Stadium and renovate the Barton Alumni Athletic Center.
