Landon hosts a variety of admissions events over the course of the year. All are designed to offer information about the school, its programs, the faculty, and our community. You may choose to come to one or many events. Our goal is for each family to feel well-informed and comfortably prepared to make an enrollment decision at the end of the admissions process.

Tour Tuesdays

Tour Tuesdays are geared for families who are interested in learning about Landon before starting the formal application process. If you know you would like to apply to Landon, we encourage you to go ahead and schedule your individual visit and skip this session.

Attendees will learn about the school, tour the campus and hear about the admissions process. These sessions run 9–10 a.m. generally one or two Tuesdays each month.

Bear for a Day

Our "Bear for a Day" program is designed to give prospective students the opportunity to visit classes and meet Landon Bears. Applicants will be hosted by a current student and follow him through his schedule for half of a day, and will leave after lunch.

Students visiting the Middle School are picked up at 12:25 p.m. and Upper School visitors are picked up at 12:45 p.m. Additional re-visit opportunities will be presented to boys who are accepted in the admissions process. Visit days for the 2019-20 school year are as follows:

  • Thursday, January 9
  • Tuesday, January 14
  • Thursday, January 23

To schedule this half-day visit please go to the admissions portal or contact the Admissions Office at or 301-320-1067.

Bridging science and structures

Lower School students worked in groups to construct bridges using hot glue and uncooked spaghetti noodles. On demolition day, they put their bridges to the test, measuring the lightest bridge that could hold the most weight.

Science takes flight

Middle School students built large balloons out of plastic and calculated buoyant and downward force, making a prediction on how much weight their balloon would be able to lift. They put them to the test and learned all about the forces that are all around us in this hands-on exercise.
