Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2018 Azalea Festival. There are hundreds of volunteer positions, and we need your help!

We have categorized jobs to make it easier to navigate but we welcome you to volunteer anywhere you want to help. Thank you for donating your time!

Opportunities for Lower School parents:

  • Bear Boardwalk (Adults and Lower School Students): Volunteer with your Lower School student to make cotton candy, popcorn and pucker powder, as well as to help cashier.
  • Funland (Adults and Upper School Students): Take tickets for rides and monitor lines.

Opportunities for Middle School students and parents:

  • Information Booth (Adults and Upper School Students): Answer questions and sell Funland and Street Party wrist bands.
  • Special Olympics (Adults and Middle School Students): Sign up to be a “buddy” and Funland chaperone to Special Olympics youth athletes and their families.
  • Spikeball Tournament (Adults): Sign up to be referee and organize the tournament. No experience necessary, rules will be explained.
  • 6th Grade Drink Booth (Middle School Students and Adults): Students and parents work together to sell drinks.
  • 7th Grade Drink Booth (Middle School Students and Adults): Students and parents work together to sell drinks.
  • 8th Grade Drink Booth (Middle School Students and Adults): Students and parents work together to sell drinks.

Opportunities for Upper School students and parents:

  • Information Booth (Adults and Upper School Students): Answer questions and sell Funland and Street Party wrist bands.
  • Spikeball Tournament (Adults): Sign up to be referee and organize the tournament. No experience necessary, rules will be explained.
  • Student Ambassadors (Students): Assist with all aspects of the festival from campus beautification to delivering food and water.

If you like plants:

  • Annuals (Adults): Help purchasers with plant selection, keep our plants watered and ring up sales.
  • Azaleas (Adults): Help organize, water and sell azaleas.
  • Herbs & Vegetables (Adults): Be a cashier, arrange and water plants, and assist customers.
  • Perkins Garden (Adults): Show visitors through the garden and explain its history.
  • Wildflowers & Perennials (Adults and Upper School Students): Be a cashier, arrange and water plants, and assist customers.

If you are willing to shop or bake for the Festival:

  • Drink Donations: Donate drinks for the Middle School to sell at the Azalea Festival!

Positions often filled by Landon fathers and alums:

  • Funland (Adults and Upper School Students): Take tickets for rides and monitor lines.
  • Golf Carts (Adults): Drive guests back and forth from parking lots to various Festival events and entry points.
  • Parking (Adults): Help keep the festival running smoothly by directing traffic and parking.
  • Plant Pickup (Adults and Upper School Students): Transport plants to pickup area and help buyers load their purchases into their vehicles.
  • Spikeball Tournament (Adults): Sign up to be referee and organize the tournament. No experience necessary, rules will be explained.
  • Riddle’s Griddle (Alumni and Current Parents): Sell concessions at Riddle’s Griddle with the senior boys!

If you like to sell and merchandise things:

  • Bearly Used (Adults): Help create a wonderful marketplace of Bearly Used home accessories.
  • Concrete Bears (Adults): Help sell our favorite cement bears on Freed Field.

If you like to interact with people:

Not available on the weekend but still want to be involved:

Faculty and staff:

  • Friday Golf Carts (Faculty and Staff): Drive guests back and forth from parking lots to various festival events and entry points.

If spreadsheets are your thing:

  • Treasury (Adults): Help with accounting.
