Parents

At Landon, parents are encouraged to be active participants in our community. We offer many opportunities for you to be involved: as guest speakers, class parents, mentors and volunteers. Parents volunteer through four main groups: the Landon Mothers Association (LMA), the Landon Fathers Club (LFC), the Azalea Garden Festival and the Landon Fund. An overview of the many ways you can offer your time, talents and skills to enrich our community is listed below!

The Landon Mothers Association (LMA)

Every Landon mom is a member of the LMA. Our 30 class parents facilitate communication between administrators and parents in your grade, coordinate activities such as class parties, and bring parents together socially off-campus throughout the year.

You can also join one of the LMA’s 31 committees, which manage events or programs such as community service, faculty appreciation, and the annual Taste of Landon multicultural celebration. Other committees provide support for spirit wear, school dances, book fair, music concerts, game concessions and more.

In addition, the LMA proudly sponsors Landon Threads to provide to the Landon community gently used dress-code items at nominal prices. All proceeds fund community service initiatives and need-based financial assistance.

The signature event of the LMA is Mothers Visiting Day, which each fall brings mothers to campus to spend the day with their sons.

The Landon Fathers Club (LFC)

Every father is a member of the LFC. You can participate in several father-son events throughout the year including pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, and campus clean-ups. The LFC’s signature event is Fathers Visiting Day in May, when fathers join their sons for a day in the classrooms and on the fields.

The LFC also assists with school-wide events such as community service and the Azalea Festival. It also provides funding for school initiatives, including microscopes for the science department and handbells for the music department.

Azalea Festival

The Azalea Festival, held each year during the first weekend in May, is Landon’s premier community event. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to sell plants and flowers, organize food sales, assist at our FunLand carnival, and much more. The Greens Sale and Holiday Boutique is held each year in December and is part of our Azalea events calendar. Volunteers create festive arrangements from fresh greens, decorate wreaths, make chocolates, help with food sales, and more.

The Landon Fund

The Landon Fund seeks volunteers to help raise money for the school through phone-a-thons and other special fundraising events.
