Landon, Holton Students Head to Belize

Middle Schoolers Will Study Environment, Serve Community

Under the leadership of Landon Middle School Spanish teacher Sarah DeCamps, 18 Middle School students from Landon and Holton-Arms traveled to Belize on June 8 for a 10-day global education trip. The journey is the first Middle School global education trip for both schools.

The trip has been organized in conjunction with the World Leadership School and includes service learning and environmental education opportunities. The students are completing a small classroom extension construction project at St. Jude’s School alongside members of a small community in the Stann Creek district outside Dangriga. They also are visiting Tobacco Caye and the Smithsonian Research Center to learn about various environmental changes that have affected Belize and its barrier reef.

Holton Spanish teacher Nicole Mahr and Communications Manager Evie Chamberlain are accompanying DeCamps and the four boys and 14 girls who are making the trip.
