Grammar 101

This is a comprehensive three-week class designed to provide students with the grammar skills necessary for mastering formal communication and academic writing. The class will be cumulatively structured, beginning with a basic foundation (parts of speech, elements of a sentence), progressing towards more intermediate skills (punctuation, sentence types), and culminating in higher-order concepts needed for advanced writing and communication (sentence structures, syntactical terms, and avoiding common stylistic errors). Instruction will be varied, including games, individual and group activities, interactive materials, and individualized focus on students’ writing needs. Students will leave the class with an essential, intricate framework on which mature and confident writing relies.
