PREREQUSITE: Successful completion of first year Pre-Algebra. This class is intended for students entering Algebra I in the fall. For MCPS students, this course is best matched to those who have not yet completed Math 8.

Are you looking to solve equations beyond two steps? Do you need to learn or reinforce basic equation graphing skills? Would you like to understand the concept of slope better? If you answered yes to these questions, then this is the class for you. Topics covered include learning how to solve multi-step equations, exploring the concept of slope, graphing equations and inequalities, basics of interpreting and solving word problems, basic exponent rules, and more. In this class, we make math fun using a mix of skills and games, which will enhance student engagement while also deepening their understanding of the material. Assessments will be given periodically throughout the class where feedback, not a grade, will be given. Optional homework assignments will be given for students seeking additional practice with specific topics.
