Extraordinary work recognized
Diaz sits with Middle School students on campus

Lower and Middle School Counselor Adam Diaz has been named one of six extraordinary teachers by Bethesda Magazine.

Diaz, who has been at Landon since August 2020, called the honor a surprise. “I feel that everyone working here at Landon is deserving of this type of recognition, so to be singled out was a really nice surprise. Knowing that I was nominated by my colleagues reconfirmed that I was in the right place, a community where I am supported and valued,” he said.

His colleagues shared their thoughts on why he is so deserving of the recognition.

Coordinator of Ethics, Service and Leadership, Jen Dunfee shared, “Adam is a role model of ethical character, kindness, and care. His broad range of interests create quick connections with the varied interests of Bears. The boys know that Adam is interested in who they are and from that place of caring about each boy as an individual, he helps them develop the social/emotional skills to be good students, friends, and teammates.”

Head Athletic Trainer Mike McCormick, who teaches the Middle School wellness class with Adam noted, “Adam’s energy is infectious! He approaches everything with a smile and a positive attitude that shows how much he loves Landon!”

Many of the things that drew Diaz to Landon also keep him grounded. “Everyone tries their best at Landon. There’s humility, and a healthy energy that keeps me comfortable, happy, and connected to everyone.” You will often see Diaz at carpool in the morning or coaching tennis in the afternoon.
